Jack Grealish has admitted that he used to watch videos of Neymar when he was growing up and says it will be ‘unbelievable’ to play against Paris Saint-Germain this season.
Man City were drawn in the same Champions League group as the Ligue 1 side, who boast superstars Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe in their forward line this season.
City currently sit top of the group following their 6-3 win over RB Leipzig on the first match day, while PSG were held to a 1-1 draw by Club Brugge despite their stacked squad. But Grealish has admitted that while it will be unbelievable to face them, results have proven that anything can happen in the competition.
“It’s going to be unbelievable,” Grealish told TNT Sports.
“It’ll be something we’ll be looking forward to. I feel we’ve got talented players here also. I think from the results tonight, from the Paris and Brugge game, you can see that anything can happen in this competition. So I’ll be looking forward to it.”
Grealish was asked specifically about Neymar and the prospect of sharing a pitch with him when the two teams face off on September 28th, and he revealed that he’s a huge fan of the 28-year-old Brazil international. So much so, that he was watching videos of Neymar when he was a kid and Neymar was just a teenager playing in the Brazilian leagues.
“He’s obviously an unbelievable, unbelievable player. Someone I used to watch videos of, even when I was a kid and he was playing for Santos, I used to watch videos of him.
“And someone that’s had a wonderful career, especially for the national team. He’s nearly the top goal scorer now. He’s really an unbelievable player, it’ll be a pleasure to share the pitch with him.”
